Tom Hood // Managing Director
Before launching Spearhead, Tom worked at the BBC and West End Theatres for nearly 30 years. During his work at the BBC, Tom was involved in producing a wide range of programmes, including Light Entertainment, Drama and Children’s TV. This experience provided him with an excellent grounding in all aspects of production in the broadcast sector.
Following his career with the BBC, Tom launched Spearhead Productions in order to pursue his passion with video production and share his knowledge and experience in the corporate world by making high quality and effective films. Tom is focused on leading the Spearhead team to deliver a great customer experience and create high quality productions that surpass the brief. Overseeing all productions, Tom ensures all projects are delivered on time and to budget.
In his spare time, Tom loves to read and enjoys going to the cinema regularly.
Carl Yates // Creative Director
Carl is an outstanding lead creative who has been behind video campaigns for companies of all shapes and sizes. In his role at Spearhead, Carl ensures the highest of visual standards across all of the output. Above all, he is focussed on developing stories that defy the conventions of traditional online content and achieve genuine audience engagement.
Since graduating from Staffordshire University with a Media (Film) Production Degree, Carl has worked as a cinematographer on both Short and Feature length films. Some of the Carl’s films have been nominated for various awards all over Great Britain, including the 2013 Midlands RTS Awards.
Recently, Quirkology, a Comedy Web Series filmed by Spearhead Productions won the Best Writing Award at the Raindance Film Festival 2015.
In his spare time, Carl loves to keep up-to-date with the latest film equipment. He is also a keen supporter of his local Amateur Dramatics Society.
